The first row of Figures

The table below the organdy

Stiching a red and blue Figure

The first row of Figures is started. And let me tell you, it was dreamy stitching on the organdy on my new table stand.

You know the saying "A poor craftsman blames his tools"? Would the opposite be - "An expert craftswoman praises her tools" ? Because that is how I'm feeling ever since I set up my new table stand. What a difference it makes!

No more struggling with the large and unwieldy wooden stretcher. Sure, the organdy is still a bit loose and shifty, but nothing like it was when taped to the stretcher bars. Now it is stuck in place with the velcro strips and when it gets loose, a simple turn of the wooden knobs brings it back to the right tension for hand-embroidery.

Will the work be that much better as a result? How would we ever know? But the experience of making the work is certainly improved. Which could then lead to a better piece in the end. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. Shouldn't be long now.
