After brunch yesterday, I reluctantly headed uptown to one of my least favorite parts of town - Times
Square - to check out "Vogue Knitting Live" at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. A few folks from my knitting group were going to be there and I was curious to see what it was like, since there are fashion shows, loads of classes and lectures, plus a vendor area called the marketplace.
I only had time to visit the marketplace section and left feeling a bit disappointed. Although I discovered a few new vendors, picked up a tantalizing brochure for a weekend weaving retreat on Block Island and visited some of my local favorites like Loopy Mango and Annie & Co. (but where were Purl Soho and Brooklyn General?), it was not quite the event I had been expecting. I guess once you have been to
the Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, everything else pales in comparison!
